Join Ubuntu 14.04 to AD Domain

Joining an Ubuntu machine to an AD domain is easily done using the new pbis-open package. Her a simple step-by-step how-to.

One

Download the current pbis-open Package

At the time of writing the current release was 8.0.1.2029. Please select the correct package for your system!

Make the downloaded installer file executable

run the installer

Answer the questions and watch the install progress

When the installer is done you can join your AD with

after entering the password your computer will be joined to the domain

Change some default settings for your domain (optionally)

If you only want to allow one AD group to connect to the linux machine, use

to restrict access accordingly.

Edit the common-session file to allow fallback to local login
